Mr. Alejandro Matsuno Remigio, from Peru, is a legal counsel for economic affairs and international economic negotiations at Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He advises on a wide range of WTO and intellectual property-related issues at multilateral and bilateral levels, and has represented Peru in the WTO trade policy review and dispute settlement mechanisms, as well as in WIPO and other international economic organizations.
Additionally, on behalf of his Ministry, he has served as deputy commissioner on national task forces on matters such as international investment disputes, the regulation of international food safety and health standards, biosecurity and biopiracy. He also oversees the enforcement of Peruvian intellectual property rights abroad through the Peruvian Foreign Service.
Mr. Matsuno Remigio holds a Master of International Law and Economics (magna cum laude) from the World Trade Institute of the University of Bern, Switzerland, and a LL.B. (with distinction) from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). He has also been an adjunct lecturer on international law at the PUCP School of Law.
