ACWL Secondment Programme: Eight applicants invited for interviews

The ACWL has invited eight candidates to Geneva for interviews to select participants in the Secondment Programme for Trade Lawyers 2010-2011.  The ACWL Recruitment Board will conduct the interviews from 1-3 June 2010.

The selected candidates, qualified government officials from Chinese Taipei, the Dominican Republic, Gambia, the Philippines, Senegal, Thailand, Tunisia and Turkey will compete for up to three places available under the programme.  These candidates were selected from among 50 applications from government officials of 26 different ACWL Members and least-developed countries.  The successful applicants will begin their secondment in September 2010 and complete it in June 2011.

Since the Programme began in 2005, the ACWL has trained government officials from Bhutan, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Egypt, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Pakistan, Paraguay Turkey and Uganda. The ACWL continues to extend its appreciation to the governments of Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden and Norway who made it possible to launch and continue the programme.

The ACWL hopes to begin the recruitment process for the 2011-2012 cycle of the Second Programme in February 2011.
