Costa Rica joins ACWL

Costa Rica is the 29th developing country to join the Advisory Centre on WTO Law (ACWL).

On 31 March 2009, Costa Rica deposited with the ACWL its instrument of ratification of its Protocol of Accession to the Agreement Establishing the ACWL. Under its terms, the Protocol of Accession of Costa Rica shall take effect on 30 April 2009.

The 44 LDCs that are Members of the WTO or in the process of acceding to the WTO are entitled to the services of the ACWL without having to become Members of the ACWL. Following Costa Rica’s accession there will consequently be 73 countries that may turn to the ACWL for advice on WTO law, support in WTO dispute settlement proceedings and legal training.
