ACWL Secondment Programme: Eight applicants invited for interviews

The ACWL has invited eight candidates to Geneva for interviews under the Secondment Programme for Trade Lawyers 2008-2009. The ACWL Recruitment Board will conduct the interviews on 2 and 3 June 2008.

The selected candidates, qualified government officials from Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Honduras, Lesotho, Nepal, Pakistan, Uruguay and Zambia will compete for up to three places available under the Programme. These candidates were selected from among 49 applications from government officials of 34 different ACWL Members and least-developed countries. The successful applicants will begin their secondment in September 2008 and complete it in June 2009.

Since the Programme began in 2005, the ACWL has trained government officials from Bhutan, Egypt, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Paraguay and Turkey. The ACWL continues to extend its appreciation to the governments of Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden and Norway who made it possible to launch and continue the programme.

The ACWL hopes to begin the recruitment process for the 2009-2010 Programme in February 2009.
