ACWL invites seven candidates for interviews

The ACWL has invited seven candidates to Geneva for interviews under the Secondment Programme for Trade Lawyers 2007-2008.

The ACWL Recruitment Board will conduct the interviews on 12 and 13 June 2007. The selected candidates, qualified government officials from Bhutan, Indonesia, Kenya, Mauritius, Peru, Thailand and Turkey, will compete for the two places available under the Programme. These candidates were selected from among 42 applications from government officials of 27 different ACWL Members and least developed countries.

The ACWL extends its appreciation to those who have shown an interest in the programme, and especially to the governments of Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden and Norway whose generosity has made it possible to continue the programme this year. The ACWL launched the Programme in 2005 and appointed two lawyers from Lesotho and Paraguay. In 2006, the two candidates selected were from Egypt and Malawi. The two candidates selected for this year's programme will begin their secondment in September 2007 and finish it in June 2008.

The ACWL hopes to launch the recruitment process for the 2008-2009 Programme in April 2008.
