The ACWL has now completed its annual training programme on WTO law and has awarded its Certificate of Training to 33 Geneva-based delegates who participated, among them 11 delegates from least-developed-countries (LDCs). This is the highest number of Certificates of Training ever awarded by the ACWL.
This year’s programme covered the basic principles on WTO law and jurisprudence with a focus on border measures, quantitative restrictions, national treatment, principles of non-discrimination and general exceptions. At the end of the course, the ACWL conducted a moot court simulation of a panel dispute settlement proceeding that covered the substantive issues addressed in the course. The delegates, who formed teams representing the complainant, respondent, third parties and panelists, actively participated in the moot court exercise. The programme commenced in October 2006 and ended in March 2007. For the complete programme, please click on the link below.
This is the fifth annual training programme offered by the ACWL. The next ACWL training course will cover specific WTO agreements on trade in goods, in addition to services and trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights. This course will start in mid-October 2007.
