Costa Rica signs Protocol of Accession

On 29 August 2005, Costa Rica signed its protocol of accession to the Agreement Establishing the Advisory Centre on WTO Law and thereby took another step towards becoming a Member of the Centre.  The protocol was signed at the Centre by H.E. Ronald Saborío Soto, Costa Rica's Ambassador to the World Trade Organization accompanied by Mr. Ernesto Fernandez and Mr. Jaime Coghi of the Permanent Mission of Costa Rica to the WTO.

Once Costa Rica is a Member, all of the developing countries and customs territories that have participated in WTO dispute settlement proceedings more than twice and fewer than 18 times will have joined the Centre.  Costa Rica's accession will bring the Centre's membership to 38:  10 developed countries, and 28 developing countries and customs territories entitled to the services of the Centre.
