On 17 March 2005, 27 participants in the ACWL Seminar on Current Issues in WTO Law received a Certificate of Training.
The seminar was conducted on a weekly basis over a six-month period from October 2004 to March 2005. It focused on topical issues in WTO law, with a particular emphasis on the Doha Work Programme. The participants also benefited from lectures by Ms Valerie Hughes, Director of the Appellate Body Secretariat, Ms Gabrielle Marceau of the WTO's Legal Affairs Division, and Mssrs Edwin Vermulst and Gary Horlick, two lawyers with a wealth of experience in trade remedies cases.
The Seminar was the third in a series of lunch-time training courses offered by the ACWL. These courses are conducted at the premises of the Centre on Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. from October to March of the following year. They are taught by the Executive Director and other lawyers of the ACWL, with occasional guest speakers. The next training course will cover the dispute settlement procedures of the WTO, and will begin on 13 October 2005.
