Centre offers seminar on current issues in WTO Law for Geneva-based delegates

Every year, the Centre offers a course on WTO law and jurisprudence to government officials from developing countries, least developed countries, and countries with economies in transition. In 2002/3, the course covered WTO dispute settlement procedures. The 2003/4 course introduced officials to the basic principles of WTO law through a detailed review of the most important rulings of WTO panels and the Appellate Body. This year's course will take the form of a seminar providing an in-depth examination of issues in WTO law that are of current interest, in particular issues relevant to the Doha Work Programme. The seminar will take place at the premises of the Centre on Thursdays from 13:15 to 14:45 hours, starting on 28 October 2004, and ending on 17 March 2005. A light lunch will be provided.

The number of participants is limited. Priority will be given to officials from Members of the Centre and those from the least developed countries. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to participants who have attended at least 12 of the 16 sessions.

The lecturers will be the Executive Director and the lawyers of the Centre, as well as guest speakers. The seminar format of the course is intended to encourage open discussions and active participation.

If you have questions or suggestions about the content of the seminar, please contact Petina Gappah by email or by phone (+41 22 919 2114).
