
Mr. Nottage has been Counsel at the ACWL since 2002. In that capacity he has represented governments in numerous disputes before the WTO Appellate Body, panels and arbitrators. Mr. Nottage has also advised governments across the spectrum of WTO agreements, including on legal issues relating to the GATT, Agriculture, SPS, TBT, SCM, GATS, TRIPS and Anti-Dumping agreements. He has provided legal counsel in key trade negotiations and has taught in the ACWL training programme since its inception.
Previously, Mr. Nottage worked at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) where he focused on trade policy linkages with competition and the environment. He also served briefly in the WTO Trade Policies Review Division and has worked as a solicitor for Chapman Tripp.
Mr. Nottage has authored various publications on international trade law and has lectured at Cambridge University's Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, Oxford University's Global Economic Governance Programme and the University of Barcelona. He has been invited to make presentations at the WTO, OECD, UNCTAD, ICTSD, IDEAS Centre and the British Institute of International and Comparative Law. He regularly contributes to the WTO's general and specialised training programmes.
Mr. Nottage holds a first class Masters in International Law from Cambridge University which he attended as a Chevening Scholar. He also holds a degree in Law (Honours) and a degree in Economics from Victoria University, New Zealand. Mr. Nottage was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor to the High Court of New Zealand in 1998.
